New Shade House

The HCS Habitat Heroes say a big thank you to the Normanby and Districts Lion Club members who donated and built our new shade house.  Doug says that there are plenty of self sown flax plants and native trees seedlings at the established area at the Nowell’s Lakes Walkway that he get for us to look after in the shade house.  Once they grow into healthy plants we hope to replant them in the new upstream area of the Walkway.

Cows Came to School

Over Easter the cows in the paddock next door came in and helped themselves to our runner beans.  Lucky for us they did not do too much damage and anyway Doug said it gave him a chance to tidy the garden. We had a big job to do to fix the fence with a spare board from one of our forts.

Today we installed a weather station by our garden to record the weather patterns for the rest of the school year.  We will monitor wind speed, rain fall and temperature.

Tomatoes Today

Who will we give these tomatoes to today?  Perhaps to the teachers for their lunch?
