2016 Class

16th of Nov:  We went to the Walkway to plant Swan Plants and to check out the trees and gardens.  We had fun looking for and learning about fresh water grayfish, frogs and caterpillars.

9th of May:  We went to the Walkway to collect our Gourds and had time to go onto the Nowell's Lakes to have a look around.  It was a lovely autumn day and we would have liked to have more time down there.

2nd of May:  It took a bit of hard work to cut up the larger pumpkins so we could divvy them up to the rest of the school.  We will leave this wheelbarrow full outside of the Assembly Hall and will tell everyone to help themselves.

We also started looking for native seedlings and found some nice Karaka plants that we will take home to look after.

4th of April:  Team A had lots of jobs to do today such as, fixing the fence, picking the rest of the Swan Plant seed pods, sowing more Lupin seeds, planting a few winter veg. and storing our Gourds.

21st of March:  Today we harvested our apples and divvied up our runner beans. We also started to empty the seeds from our swan plant pods for next years planting

7th of March:  Today we collected swan plant pods and when the seeds have fully formed we will pop them out of their pods to store for next years planting.  We also harvested our first pumpkin, runner beans and silver beat.

29th of February:  Hey look at these gourds they are coming on and our caterpillars have turned into Monarch Butterfly's

15th of February: We were checking out the Monarch caterpillar's, gathering and storing seed for next spring and chomping into the apples.

  1. You kids are doing a great job. I loved having the Monarch butterfly's in our classroom .I don't know how those caterpillars climbed so high and made a chrysalis on the ceiling. I'm glad they hatched before the holidays. I enjoyed the tomatoes and I heard a rumour that someone was planning to make apple crumble sometime soon. YUM
